This One Thing I Do…

(Phil 3:12-16)

I know that we live in the information age so I thought I would try and new form of blogging today. Read Phil 3: 12-16 between now and Thursday and bring a Bible to practice. Check out the Video http://youtu.be/3SDXrIxD95E and come ready to discuss the power of focus this Thursday!

  1. Two things come to mind. First, to echo Brother Bill's teaching at the leadership retreat, PRAYER should be the highest priority. . . prayers for our church, our leaders, those serving in ministry, and that our offerings during the worship service would be God honoring. Second, EXCELLENCE, which involves doing our best and coming to rehearsal and Sunday being PREPARED spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

  2. Susan~ I love what you are saying here because prayer is an important, core discipline of the Christian life. Through it, God moves us and directs us. And everything we do should be done with excellence. Paul said, “Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men," Colossians 3:23 (HCSB)
I believe Paul is speaking to our commitment to excellence, but I would add one more attribute of ORBC, commitment. ORBC members, and especially its music ministry, are more committed than any church I have ever been a part of. (I know, I ended on a preposition, sigh.) When I think of the scope of this ministry, from the performers on stage to the production team and all of those who gladly serve behind the scenes, I am overwhelmed. I know that all of this is only possible because commitment is a deep seated core value of ORBC. And that commitment exudes in the excellence displayed every week.
